Board of County Commissioners meeting

Here is a summary of actions taken at yesterday's Board of County Commissioners meeting:

Recognized the promotions of firefighter/EMT Max Sherwood, firefighter/EMT Ceceil “CJ” Williams, and firefighter/medic Branden Fitch to lieutenant, and the promotions of Daniel Cirrocco, Tim Langston, and Karin Richardson from captain/medic to battalion chief.

Approved the realignment of excess funds from completed projects 12054 (Memorial Drive pipe), 21093 (East Winthrop Street), and 21094 (AP fuel island) in the amount of $154,819.67 to project 22041 (Hammock Road drainage).

Approved acceptance of the Florida Department of Health EMS matching grant 22-23 and adopted a budget amendment to appropriate $205,200 (90%) from FDOH, with a 10% county match in the amount of $22,800.

Approval of Resolution 22-23-65, temporarily suspending the processing of applications for the vacation of a right of way, roadway, easement, or a portion thereof, owned by the County until an updated policy is adopted by the Board. Certain exceptions apply.

Approved a budget amendment for Courthouse façade repairs in the amount of $297,188.57.

Approved the appointment of Jason Dunkel, President/CEO of AdventHealth Sebring, Lake Placid, Wauchula, to the Highlands County Industrial Development Authority and Economic Development Council.

The next board meeting will be held at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21 at the Highlands County Government Center, 600 S. Commerce Ave., in Sebring.
