It's that time of year. Pumpkin Spice time!
There's no -one- best way to celebrate the time of year, but we have one option. Instead of going out and buying the pumpkin spice basics, why not make them at home instead?
Below, we have a classic recipe for making your own Pumpkin Spice, how to bake the staple Pumpkin Pie, and how to make the perfect Pumpkin Spice Latte.
Pumpkin Spice
Ingredients:
4 teaspoons (8 parts) Ground Cinnamon
2 teaspoons (4 parts) Ground Ginger
1 teaspoon (2 parts) Ground Clove
1 teaspoon (2 parts) Ground Allspice
½ teaspoon (1 part) Ground Nutmeg
Combine the spices in a bowl, whisk together until fully combined, and store in an airtight container. It's as easy as that.
Pumpkin Pie
Ingredients:
1 can (15 oz) pumpkin puree
¾ cup Sugar
1 ¼ cup Evaporated Milk
2 Eggs
1 ½ Teaspoon of Pumpkin Spice
½ teaspoon salt
1 Pie Crust (unbaked)
Preheat oven to 425 Degrees. Combine all ingredients, mix until smooth. Pour into unbaked pie crust.
Bake for 15 minutes at 425 degrees. Reduce oven to 350 degrees and continue to bake for 40-50 minutes. When done a knife inserted into center of pie should come out clean. Allow to cool for 2 hours. Serve of refrigerate, store in refrigerator.
Pumpkin Spice Latte
Ingredients:
1-2 Tablespoons sugar (your preference)
2 Tablespoons Pumpkin Puree
½ teaspoon Pumpkin Spice
½ cup coffee
½ cup milk
Combine all ingredients in saucepan or microwave safe bowl. Stir and heat to just below a boil. Pour into mug and top with whipped cream and/or a dash pumpkin spice.
